Summary

The ACSM: New Investigator Award is designed for early career researchers who have shown potential in exercise science or sports medicine. Recipients are recognized for their contributions and receive benefits including registration to the ACSM Annual Meeting, accommodation, meals, and airfare. Eligible applicants must be early career members, first authors of accepted posters at the meeting, and not hold higher positions than assistant professor. Previous winners are ineligible.

Travel and Research Awards Giving back to our members is one way ACSM invests in the future of sports medicine and exercise science. Students and professionals who meet eligibility criteria are welcome to apply for any of our prestigious research and travel awards. New Investigator Award The New Investigator Award recognizes early career researchers who, as a consequence of their educational background/training and quality of initial independent research productivity, have begun and are likely to continue to make a significant contribution to knowledge in basic or clinical exercise science or sports medicine. The award includes complimentary registration to the ACSM Annual Meeting, award banquet tickets, three nights of hotel accommodations (<$350/night), meals for three days (<$75/day), airfare (<$600). Any additional cost to attend the meeting will be the responsibility of the awardee.

Eligibility

You can learn more about this opportunity by visiting the funder's website. Open to early career members within six years of receiving a postgraduate degree or completion of medical residency.  Applicants must be the first author and presenter of a poster accepted at the ACSM Annual Meeting. This excludes dissertation research. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. Applicants must be an ACSM national member in good standing before applying. ACSM chapter membership alone does not fulfill this requirement.

Ineligibility

Applicants cannot hold a position higher than assistant professor.  Previous recipients of the New Investigator Award are not eligible to apply.
