Leeway x Fleisher Visual Artist Residency Grant

The Leeway x Fleisher Visual Artist Residency supports women and trans artists by offering a unique opportunity to create art for social change from January to December 2026. Past Leeway grantees can apply to use Fleisher Art Memorial's facilities, receiving a $3,000 stipend, inclusion in a faculty show, and access to various art studios. Participants will also engage in community outreach through a public workshop or talk, culminating in a final exhibition to showcase their work.

Through our grantmaking and other programs we promote artistic expression that amplifies the voices of those on the margins, promotes sustainable and healthy communities, and works in the service of movements for economic and social justice.
Residency Overview
Leeway Foundation and Fleisher Art Memorial are partnering to offer a Visual Artist residency to a past Leeway grantee from January through December 2026. Leeway grantees of all artistic disciplines are encouraged to submit a proposal for an art for social change project that utilizes Fleisher's facilities.
Fleisher is one of the country's oldest community art schools with classes and studios for various visual disciplines (painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, screen-printing, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, etc).
The selected Fleisher Artist-in-Residence will receive:

• a $3,000 stipend from Leeway to cover costs associated with supplies and documentation, as well as the classes of your choosing
• inclusion in the faculty show

access to Fleisher facilities and equipment during open studio hours, including painting/drawing studio, ceramics equipment/kilns, darkroom, digital photography lab, printmaking equipment, and various classes.
As part of the residency, the artist will be required to offer a public artist workshop or talk, as well as a final exhibition or presentation to share the work created during the residency. Leeway and Fleisher will promote these related events.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply, you must:
be a past Leeway granteecurrently live in Bucks, Camden, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, or Philadelphia countyhave submitted grant reports for completed previous projects, awards, and residenciesnot have received the Transformation Award or a residency from Leeway in 2024not be enrolled as a full-time student in an arts degree program
