About the Good Samaritan Ministries The goal and mission of Good Samaritan Ministries (GSM) is to make financial grants through an annual grants program to charitable and educational activities that "inspire, equip, and empower sustainable ministries to support spiritual and physical needs” in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. GSM is committed to a policy of non-discrimination and equal opportunity. GSM is also guided by the Social Principles of The United Methodist Church. Amount Grant awards will not exceed $50,000.

Eligibility

To meet its goals and mission, annual GSM grant funding is divided into two pools:Pool A: This pool of funding is open to all applicants whose grant project contributes to the mission of GSM by offering primary/preventive health care that serves low income and uninsured individuals in underserved areas of the Commonwealth. Any program, grant, organization, church, or ministry should reflect the values of The United Methodist Church. Pool B: This pool of funding is available only to ministries of the Kentucky Annual Conference and organizations that are directly connected to the Kentucky Annual Conference. More specifically, Pool B applicants must meet the following criteria: Contribute to the mission of GSM “To inspire, equip, and empower sustainable ministries to support spiritual and physical needs.” Contribute to the on-going and sustaining work of the Kentucky Annual Conference to discover, develop, and send passionate spiritual leaders and resources to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.Grant awards for either pool will not exceed $50,000Organizations are eligible for succeeding year grants, but follow-up grant(s) must reflect evolving objectives and scopes of work.

Ineligibility

For both Pool A and Pool B, GSM does not fund “bricks and mortar” projects, annual operating expenses, administrative and overhead costs (i.e. salaries, benefits, rent), or non-medical office equipment. GSM does not fund proposals from for-profit organizations, private individuals, partisan political entities, fraternal organizations, veterans’ organizations, or national organizations such as United Way. In addition, GSM does not fund proposals for fundraising activities (e.g. charitable tournaments, meal functions, team sponsorships, or ticket purchases) or proposals to create or support youth athletic activities.
