Program Focus: FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team and mentor recognition awards

Geographic Scope: Colorado

Award Categories:

    Judging Room Awards:

  • Scouting Award: Honors teams demonstrating exceptional scouting and data-driven strategy throughout competition, with consistent dedication to accurate data collection and strategic alliance selection
  • Electrical Design Award: Recognizes outstanding electrical system design with clean layout, reliable wiring, innovative component integration, and attention to safety
  • Pit Crew Award: Honors teams whose pit operations exemplify organization, event planning, professionalism, and well-maintained robot readiness
  • Mechanical Design Award: Recognizes exceptional mechanical engineering and craftsmanship with durable, precise, and elegant problem-solving
  • Professionalism Award: Celebrates teams exemplifying highest standards of professionalism on and off the field, with respect, integrity, and meaningful community outreach
  • Judges' Choice Award: Presented at judges' discretion to teams with unique efforts, performance, or spirit not captured by other awards
  • Outstanding Mentor Award: Honors mentors exemplifying FIRST values through inspiration, dedication, and fostering growth in student skills and teamwork (mentor must not be current WFA or WFFA winner)

Eligibility:

  • All FRC teams competing at KCMT

  • Teams may submit for any number of awards

  • Outstanding Mentor Award: Individual must be a mentor of an FRC team and not a current WFA/WFFA winner
  • Submission Requirements:

  • One page explanation/description (8.5" x 11", no smaller than 10pt font, single-spaced)

  • No pictures or external links

  • Teams may send up to 3 students to present (2 minutes per award)

  • Teams may bring physical materials (robot, etc.) to aid presentation

  • Judges conduct 5-minute follow-up questions after presentations
  • Deadline: October 10, 2026 by 8:00 AM Mountain Time (originally October 5, 2025, extended)

    Event Details:

  • Judge interviews: Saturday afternoon, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM in the pits

  • Judges may request callbacks at their discretion
  • Status: Active - Annual recognition awards

  • How to Apply

    Application Process

    1. Complete the 2025 KCMT Judge Submission Form
    2. Provide the following information:
    - FRC team number
    - Mentor name (mentor of team, not student)
    - Email address
    - Select which awards team is submitting for
    3. For each award submission:
    - Prepare one-page essay/description (8.5" x 11" format)
    - Minimum 10pt font size
    - Single-spaced formatting
    - No pictures or external links
    - Upload PDF or document file
    4. Upload submission files through online form
    5. Prepare presentation materials if presenting:
    - Select up to 3 student presenters
    - Prepare 2-minute presentation per award
    - Optional: bring physical materials (robot, etc.)
    6. Team must attend KCMT event:
    - Report to judges' table in pits
    - Available Saturday 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
    - Participate in presentation and Q&A (up to 5 minutes)

    Submission Deadline: October 10, 2026 by 8:00 AM Mountain Time

  • Electrical Design Award: Description of electrical system design, layout, and innovation

  • Professionalism Award: Explanation of team professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and community outreach

  • Mentor Award: Description of mentor's impact, leadership, and contribution to team
