Overview

Kay's Foundation Scholarship

Organization: Kay's Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization

Purpose: Provide financial assistance to qualifying graduating high school seniors, currently battling cancer or in remission, to further their education through financial support.

Geographic Scope: Delaware (DE), Maryland (MD), Pennsylvania (PA), Virginia (VA), or New Jersey (NJ) - COCAI Region 2

Focus Areas: Education support for youth with cancer diagnosis or in remission pursuing higher education or trade school

Eligibility Requirements

  • Cancer Status: Applicant must have received a diagnosis of cancer and currently undergoing treatment, OR be in remission
  • Geographic: Reside in and/or have attended a pediatric oncology camp in COCAI Region 2 (DE, MD, PA, VA, or NJ)
  • Education Level: Be a candidate for graduation from High School or accredited state vocational institution or GED - OR be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or verified trade school beyond their first year
  • GPA: Cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 or equivalent (lower GPA considered case-by-case)
  • Intent: Must be planning and prove enrollment in an undergraduate program or verified trade school
  • Gap Year: Applications accepted for students taking a gap year
  • Conflicts: May not be related to any active Kay's Foundation board member

How to Apply

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit an application along with the following supporting documents:

1. Essay: Describing how you have overcome challenge(s) in your fight against cancer and how this journey has impacted you
2. Official Transcript: From secondary school
3. Activities List: List of volunteer and extracurricular activities
4. Letters of Recommendation: Three (3) letters from non-family members (e.g., teacher, coach, boss, community leader)
5. Proof of Enrollment: At a qualifying institution where the scholarship will be leveraged

Disbursement

  • Scholarship will be paid directly to the applicant
