Overview

NOTE: Must have FAFSA on file at the institution. Kansas National Guard Educational Master's for Enhanced Readiness and Global Excellence (EMERGE) The  EMERGE program provides tuition and fees paid up to 15 credit hours; up to a maximum rate not to exceed the maximum rate that would be charged by the state educational institutions for enrollment.  Students have to be pursuing a Master's, Professional or Doctorate degree at a Kansas post secondary institution and must be a member of a Kansas Air/Army National Guard unit. A service obligation is required after receiving the assistance. Award Amount This program pays tuition and fees for up to 15 credit hours per semester, not to exceed 150% of the total number of credit hours required to complete the degree. The award amount is subject to the amount of tuition and fees minus Federal Tuition Assistance. The scholarship amount will be based on the maximum rate charged by state educational institutions.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:Be a current member of the Kansas National Guard in good standing who has been accepted into an eligible advanced degree program such as Master’s, Professional, DoctorateEnroll in a Kansas educational institution (includes public and private universities and Washburn University)Must have FAFSA on file at the institutionMust apply for Federal Tuition Assistance, if applicableMust submit transcript to National Guard unit at the end of each semesterService obligation (included in the Student Agreement): Upon completion of last semester of tuition assistance, member will serve an additional 48 months in the Kansas National Guard for a Master’s degree or 72 months for a professional or doctorate degree or will be required to repay the amount of the scholarship received.Recipients of this scholarship must:Be selected by the Adjutant General’s office for this scholarship program,Maintain at least a 2.75 GPA for Master’s degree and 3.0 GPA for other degrees andMake satisfactory progress toward the completion of the educational program in which they are enrolled.
