Overview

Founded in 2020 through the generosity of Judith Ann Mogan and the Al Peirce Co., LLC, the Judith Ann Mogan Foundation (JAMF) is a private foundation based in Coos Bay, Oregon. Its mission is to develop successful citizens and vital communities on the Southern Oregon Coast. While it is a new non-profit organization, its roots in the Southern Oregon Coast goes back a long way. Over the past four years, JAMF has awarded over $ 5.98 million to 84 organizations with 159 projects benefiting the Southern Oregon Coast. The Judith Ann Mogan Foundation Grants: Small Grant Program The Judith Ann Mogan Foundation awards grants to qualified organizations in Oregon with programs and projects that benefit communities in the following Service Areas: Coastal Douglas County, Coos County and Curry County. JAMF supports qualified organizations that work towards creating successful citizens and vital communities through programs and projects that impact the following priority areas: Arts & Culture: Activities that support the arts and culture of a community. Possible projects could include community and school-based music/arts programs, cultural exchange experiences, and visiting artist’s sponsorship.Children & Youth: Programs organized for both in- and out-of-school youth such as: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education; early learning classes, quality childcare, sports programs, and overall literacy improvement.Community Health: Projects that advance community health initiatives, attract medical professionals, promote healthy lifestyles, increase medical services on the South Coast, conduct medical related research, and encourage citizens to obtain their best health regardless of socioeconomic status.Convening & Gathering Places: Projects that strengthen various venues and opportunities for the community to socialize, such as: park development or maintenance, recreational facilities, and museum or education facilities such as libraries.Economic Development: Projects that encourage business diversification and sustainability opportunities, improve and enhance local business operations, and support programs including quality senior and child care that will allow families to participate in the workforce.Environment & Natural Resources: Projects that support proper management and sustainability of our environment and natural resources. JAMF is especially interested in programs that promote forestry and wood products industries and provide community awareness & education.Poverty Alleviation: Programs that provide assistance with basic needs like housing, food, healthcare, transportation, etc. Proposals addressing root causes and systemic changes to improve poverty alleviation in our community. Under these criteria, the Foundation is offering two (2) types of grant programs, one of which is the Small Grant Program that awards $25,000 or less. Grants are generally for a one-year period. Occasionally, and at the Board’s discretion, multi-year grants may be considered.
