Jr. Scholars Internship Program

A two-phase initiative in partnership with Youthworks and Montgomery County, providing high school students and recent graduates with foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in early childhood education.

Geographic Scope: Dayton and Montgomery County, Ohio area (eight partner school districts: Dayton Public, Huber Heights, Jefferson Township, Kettering, Mad River, Northridge, Trotwood, West Carrollton)

Focus Areas:

• Early childhood education career exploration
• Foundational ECE knowledge
• Hands-on classroom experience
• Best practices aligned with state standards

Eligibility:

• High school sophomores, juniors, seniors (2024-2025 academic year)
• Recent high school graduates
• Interest in early childhood education

Program Structure:

Phase 1: Four-day introductory series

• In-depth exploration of ECE career field
• Essential background knowledge
• Begins in November

Phase 2: Eight-week internship

• Real-world experience at Preschool Promise sites
• Comprehensive training, coaching, and mentorship
• Learning and applying best practices aligned with state standards
