JICSL Scholarships Program

Funder: John's Island Community Service League (JICSL)

Program History: Began in 1999 in partnership with Indian River State College. Expanded in 2019 to include club employees themselves (in addition to employees' dependents).

Target Population

1. Employees and Their Dependents: - Employees of John's Island Club - Dependents of employees - Post-secondary education support - Program partners: Scholarship Foundation of Indian River County (SFIRC) and Indian River State College (IRSC)

2. Low-Income Students in Indian River County:
- Eighth graders apply to this program
- Mentored throughout high school (with good grades and remaining drug and crime free)
- College tuition paid for 4-year college degree at IRSC following high school graduation
- Often first in families to attend college
- Since 2001, 40 students have been funded

  • JICSL High Achievement Scholarships: For extraordinarily qualified candidates
  • Low-Income Eighth Grade Scholarship: For students in Indian River County
