The foundation emphasizes the importance of teachers addressing their own challenges and encourages proposals that empower students as changemakers in their communities, enhancing educational experiences and professional growth.Overview
Martha Holden Jennings Foundation What began over 65 years ago as a family operation, continues today with board and staff members that embody the spirit of family. We are very proud to carry on the legacy of making a lasting impact on the students of Ohio, and honoring the excellent teachers across the state. Together, Martha Holden Jennings and her second cousin, Arthur S. Holden, Jr., founded the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation in 1959. Their intent was to recognize and support Ohio’s public-school teachers and students, a population they believed had been overlooked in philanthropic circles in favor of higher education. Jennings-Fund for Teachers Fund For Teachers is a national organization based in Houston, Texas, that “supports educators' efforts to develop skills, knowledge, and confidence that impact student achievement.” The Martha Holden Jennings Foundation is very proud to be one of their local partners, supporting Ohio public school teachers who think big, design a summer fellowship to creatively help them grow as professionals, and engage in learning experiences all over the world. Guidelines Individuals may apply for up to $5,000, and teams may apply for up to $10,000 (team members may be from different schools or districts. All members must meet the eligibility). Proposals that prioritize teachers seeking solutions to their own, genuine problems of practice will be best aligned with our grant goals. Proposals that have the potential to center students as changemakers for problems in their communities are highly encouraged.Eligibility
