About Us

The Community Foundation of Dickinson County, Inc. was established in 1999 by a group of civic-minded individuals who cherished their community and wanted to ensure future generations experience the same quality of living they had received in Dickinson County. These visionaries secured the future of the Foundation by establishing an Endowed Founder’s Fund.

Janet Rodda Memorial Scholarship - (1) $500

Janet Rodda was a registered nurse at Memorial Health System in Abilene, Kansas, who specialized in obstetrics during the last eight years of her life. Janet passed away on August 6, 2008, from bone cancer. This scholarship was established in loving memory by her family and friends.

Scholarship Overview

This scholarship is intended to assist a graduating senior, a previous graduate, or someone who is currently working in the medical field and is pursuing higher-level education toward a career in nursing.

Eligibility

* Scholarship Requirements:
* Applicant must be either (1) a graduating senior or previous graduate; or (2) someone who is currently working in the medical field.
* Applicant must attend an accredited four-year college, community college, or vocational school where licensure or a degree in the field of nursing.
* Applicant must have earned at least a cumulative 2.5 GPA.
* Statement/essay of 200-300 words describing your life goals and any life experience with cancer within your immediate family. The statement should reflect your plans post-graduation. If you are currently working in the medical field in Dickinson County, please include your place of employment.
* The following should be uploaded to complete the application:
* Copy of most recent academic transcript.
* Copy of résumé detailing community service and extra-curricular activities.
* Current headshot.
