Students and professionals who meet eligibility criteria are welcome to apply for any of our prestigious research and travel awards. Jack Wilmore Legacy Travel Award Started in remembrance of Jack H. Wilmore, Ph.D., FACSM, the 22nd president of ACSM, this award assists doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows with travel expenses to present their research aligned with or influenced by Dr. Wilmore’s publications at the ACSM Annual Meeting. One award recognizes research presented as basic science, and one award recognizes research presented as applied science. Dr. Wilmore was the recipient of both the ACSM Citation and Honor Awards and served as editor-in-chief of Exercise and Sport Science Review. He was a prolific and distinguished sports medicine scholar with 317 published research articles, 55 chapters in edited books, and 15 books authored or co-authored. In addition to faculty and research positions, Dr. Wilmore was a consultant to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Rams, Lakers and Kings and the California Angels and San Francisco 49ers. This award is made possible by generous donations from ACSM members and friends of Dr. Wilmore and by a multi-year commitment from Human Kinetics.Eligibility

Applicants must be the first author and presenter of an abstract accepted at the ACSM Annual Meeting. Applicants are asked to cite two articles from a list of Dr. Wilmore’s work, and identify how their abstract aligns with or was influenced by his publications. You must be a member of this organization to apply for this award - become a member. Applicants must be an ACSM national member in good standing before applying. ACSM chapter membership alone does not fulfill this requirement.Ineligibility
