About Us We’re about connecting people with the needs of the community. We do this by connecting individual gifts to nonprofits through grants. Our knowledge about important issues facing the Fox Valley Region is based on strong relationships with nonprofits and our unwavering pursuit of understanding our community needs. Individual gifts, when joined with others given through the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region, ensure the impact lasts forever so that our community will always flourish. We are a tax-exempt, publicly supported nonprofit organization managing charitable funds — mostly permanent endowments — created by many families, businesses and organizations. These funds generate grants for the long-term benefit of the people of the Fox Valley region of Wisconsin. J.C. Bubolz Memorial Scholarship Julius Christian Bubolz (III) was born in 1893, the 5th in a family of 13 children. Like many of his generation, he had limited opportunity to extend his education beyond 8th grade. JC was able to attend the Auto Institute in Detroit to learn mechanics and sales, but service in World War I interrupted his work with the Studebaker Corporation. However, learning, if only self-taught, remained a life-long endeavor. J.C. bought a small farm in Langlade County where he specialized in breeding quality dairy stock. He built all the buildings for his farm with his own hands at night while working as a foreman for the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad during the day. J.C. served as a Justice of the Peace for the Town of Wolf River, operated an insurance agency for farmers from his home, and served 11 years on the school board for the Hollister School District. During his tenure the grade school was recognized as one of the best organized in the state. There were no school buses in the Hollister District, so J.C. used his own vehicle to deliver students, not just his own three children, to the school. He was intent that a lack of transportation should not interfere with a child's access to an education. J.C. was deeply proud that his son and two daughters were able to achieve college degrees, and it is the family's wish that he is honored by providing others with assistance through the J.C. Bubolz Memorial Scholarship, as they pursue their own education. Award Amount: Two $2,000 scholarship awards, payable at $1,000 each for the fall and spring semestersEligibility
