Community Foundation of the Lowcountry With more than $125 million invested in the Lowcountry area since 1994, Community Foundation of the Lowcountry is the largest source of unrestricted philanthropic resources dedicated to Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper Counties. Throughout our history, we have expanded our services, undertaken important initiatives and altered our course to ensure we’re serving the needs of the Lowcountry. We provide donors and nonprofits the steadfast philanthropic leadership to transform, empower and enhance the communities we serve. Scholarships Since 1995, we’ve been a resource for students and parents who are looking for a way to offset the cost of tuition while bypassing the use of student loans. Ira P. Berman Gulfstream Scholarship The Ira P. Berman Gulfstream Scholarship was generously established through the combined philanthropy of Ira P. Berman, Helen A. Borrello, and Gulfstream Aerospace to support the educational aspirations of Gulfstream employees' children and dependents. Mr. Berman served Gulfstream Aerospace with distinction as Senior Vice President of Administration and General Counsel, and as a Corporate Vice President of General Dynamics, Gulfstream’s parent company, for more than 25 years. In recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedication, and lasting contributions to the company, Gulfstream joined Mr. Berman and Ms. Borrello in supporting the creation of this scholarship.Eligibility

Enrollment Requirement: Applicants must be high school seniors scheduled to graduate from a public or private high school, or full-time college students, who will be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or technical school no later than the beginning of the next academic year.Employment Requirement: Applicants must be the child or dependent for tax purposes, of a full-time Gulfstream employee. The employee must have completed at least one year of full-time employment with Gulfstream by the application deadline and remain employed at the time the scholarship is awarded.Academic Achievement & Activities: Applicants must demonstrate a strong academic record and active participation in extracurricular activities.
