International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund

Program Type: Need-based scholarship for international graduate students

Overview:
The International Peace Scholarship (IPS) Fund provides scholarships for international women students to pursue graduate study in the U.S. or Canada. The scholarship is based upon demonstrated need; however, the award is not intended to cover all academic or personal expenses.

Award: Maximum of $12,500; lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual needs

Geographic Scope: International women seeking advanced degrees in the United States or Canada

Eligibility Period: September 15 to December 15 (Applications will be accepted starting September 15, 2026)

    Eligibility Requirements

    A woman is eligible for consideration for an International Peace Scholarship if she:
  • Is a woman outside the United States and Canada seeking an advanced degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or Canada
  • Will return to her home country to utilize her education to make a positive impact and foster global peace
  • Has a full year of formal coursework remaining
  • Is enrolled and in residence in the U.S. or Canada for the entire school year, OR
  • Is an international student attending Cottey College

Ineligible Applicants:

  • Doctoral students who have completed coursework and are working only on dissertations (not eligible as first-time applicants)

  • Citizens or permanent residents of the United States or Canada

  • Students applying for online courses, research, internships, or practical training if not combined with formal coursework
  • Note: A student with residency for tax purposes only is permitted.

      Required Financial Resources

      At the time of application, the applicant must indicate additional financial resources adequate to meet estimated expenses. Examples include:
    • Personal and family funds
    • Tuition waivers
    • Work
    • Scholarships
    • Teaching assistantships
    • Study grants
    • Other scholarships

    Application Process

    1. Application Period: September 15 to December 15 annually

    2. Online Application: International women students submit applications online during the eligibility window

    3. Required Materials:
    - Detailed financial information
    - Evidence of additional financial resources
    - Academic credentials and records
    - Statement of intent to return to home country
    - Documentation of full year of coursework remaining
    - Proof of enrollment and residence in U.S. or Canada
