Geographic Scope: Atlanta Public Schools (APS) district

Focus Areas:

• COVID-19 pandemic education support
• Immediate educational needs during school closures
• Mental health and social-emotional support
• Innovative reimagining and enhancement of public education
• Wraparound services:
  • Virtual clubs and arts
  • Extra academic instruction
  • Learning pods for under-resourced communities
  • Student, parent, or community communications
  • Mobile WiFi units and other innovative supports

Alignment: Proposals required alignment with Transcend Education's Leaps for Equitable, 21st-Century Learning framework, which focuses on helping young people maximize their potential while being connected to and supporting a larger community. Proposals must advance equity and focus on students with greatest need.

Total Distribution: Over $168,000 awarded to 24 recipients (14 schools, 10 nonprofits)

Eligibility: All public schools and nonprofit organizations operating in Atlanta serving APS district students

Application Process

Submission Format: Online proposal

Required Criteria:

• Alignment with Transcend Education's Leaps for Equitable, 21st-Century Learning framework
• Advancement of equity
• Focus on students with greatest need
• Ability to quickly implement proposed project
• Service to APS district students

Submission Timeline: Rolling basis - applications considered beginning October 14, 2020, and continued until funds were depleted

Notification: Applicants were notified of award status within one month of proposal submission

Grant Amounts Available: Four funding tiers from $2,500 or less up to $10,001-$15,000
