Impact 100 of Indian River County High Impact Grants

Funder: Impact 100 of Indian River County (FL, US)

Award Amount: $100,000 per grant

Geographic Scope: Indian River County, Florida. Organizations must be based in Indian River County or be a chapter of a multi-county, state or national nonprofit serving Indian River County residents. If serving multiple counties, board must include Indian River County residents.

Focus Areas:

  • Arts and Culture - Projects developing artistic/cultural opportunities, improving arts participation or arts education

  • Children and Family - Projects enhancing/strengthening lives of children and families

  • Education - Projects advancing/improving learning opportunities for children and/or adults

  • Environment - Projects promoting positive relationship between people and environment, preserving/enhancing public spaces, supporting environmental education

  • Health and Wellness - Projects improving physical and/or mental wellbeing of residents
  • Model: The women of Impact 100 pool individual $1,000 grant fund donations annually to award $100,000 grants. Membership contribution is $1,100 ($1,000 toward grants, $100 for administrative expenses). The total number of grants awarded each year is determined at the end of March based on membership on that date.

    Organization Eligibility

    Required Qualifications:

  • Tax-Exempt Status: Must be recognized as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization for the three-year period prior to September 30 submission deadline

  • Location: Based in Indian River County or chapter of multi-county/state/national nonprofit serving Indian River County residents

  • Financial Statements: Must possess at least two years of complete financial statements (audited or unaudited)

  • Previous Grants: Cannot have received a $100,000 Impact 100 grant within the last three years
  • Project Eligibility

    Required Criteria:

  • Geographic Benefit: Must serve Indian River County residents; all funds expended in Indian River County and 100% for exclusive benefit of county residents

  • Budget: Total project budget of $100,000. Projects exceeding $100,000 must show complete project budget with all funding sources and specific $100,000 Impact 100 budget

  • Timeline: Full grant amount must be expended within 24 months

  • Focus Area: Must fit within one of five focus areas

  • Project Type: Must be new program, expansion of existing program, or new/expanded collaboration

  • Expense Timing: Complete project-related budget items AFTER grant award date; funding for expenses completed before award date will NOT be retroactively reimbursed

  • Documentation: Submit ALL required files by deadline; no second request for missing information
  • Collaboration Requirements

    When two or more qualifying nonprofits jointly manage and contribute significantly to proposed project with shared Impact funds:

  • One organization identified as Lead Organization responsible for application, financial management, and reporting

  • Collaborating organizations may provide information after initial review

  • Important: A nonprofit may only apply for one grant each year (either individually or as part of collaboration)

  • Partnerships (where funding not shared) are single applicant submissions with partnership details in Project Narrative; partners can submit own application same year
  • Impact 100 DOES FUND

    • New programs meeting grant evaluation criteria and financial requirements
    • Expansions of existing programs to new, larger, or different constituencies (including programs previously receiving Impact 100 grants) - but funds can only support expansion portion, NOT existing program
    • Salaries directly related and necessary to project implementation
    • General operating expenses and overhead specific to proposed project
    • Capital purchases directly related and necessary to implementation
    • General construction or renovation costs directly related and necessary to implementation

    Impact 100 DOES NOT FUND

    • Debt reduction or operational deficits
    • General operating expenses or overhead not directly related/necessary to proposed project
    • Budgeted line items completed before grant award date
    • Programs using grant to benefit residents outside Indian River County
    • Grants to individuals (scholarships) or nonprofits acting as grant makers
    • Private foundations
    • Endowment or memorial funding
    • Fund drives or annual appeals
    • Interim or bridge funding
    • Franchise costs and/or percentages to national/international organizations
    • Partisan, legislative, or political activity (including positions on global warming, immigration, gun rights, pro-life/pro-choice, government healthcare role)
    • Political and legislative activity supporting political parties, candidates, partisan groups, or lobbyists
    • Fraternal, sectarian, or religious organizations where grant benefits organization's own members/constituents
    • Grants for organizations offering public worship or requiring beneficiaries to ascribe to particular religious affiliation/belief (Faith-based organizations eligible if meeting all other criteria)
    • Marketing or advertising unrelated to proposed project
    • General capital campaigns
    • Capital improvements/renovations to property organization does not own or lack stable/long-term lease (minimum 5-year lease required; exceptions possible with lessor renewal documentation or rent-to-purchase options)
    • Leases mutually dissolvable at discretion of lessor/lessee
    • Legal expenses
    • Projects discriminating based on age, gender/gender identity, race, national origin, ethnicity, physical/intellectual disability, religious belief, sexual orientation, or political orientation

    Grant eligibility guidelines continue to evolve. Impact 100 reserves right to amend grant award criteria without prior notice and to reject applications not meeting guidelines. Direct solicitation of Impact 100 members is strictly prohibited.

    How to Apply

    Application Process

    Overview: The application process consists of 8 steps spanning approximately 12 months (July through April of following year).

    Step 1: Learn About Eligibility and Requirements

    1. Review Grant Eligibility Guidelines
    2. Review Financial Requirements for Applicants
    3. Download all required documents from Resources section
    4. Confirm organization meets all eligibility criteria

    Step 2: Submit Letter of Intent (LOI)

    Timeline:

  • LOI invitations sent: July 1

  • LOI submission deadline: July 31

  • LOI review meetings: July – August 31
  • Process:
    1. Receive notification from e-CImpact administrator once LOI period opens with invitation to apply
    2. Submit LOI through e-CImpact platform (administered by United Way of Indian River County)
    3. Include answers to key eligibility criteria questions
    4. An Impact 100 LOI reviewer will schedule in-person or Zoom meeting to discuss LOI and provide guidance
    5. May revise and resubmit LOI if needed (by July 31)
    6. Meeting must be completed by August 31
    7. This is a mandatory step - successful LOI approval results in invitation to submit full grant application
    8. If LOI denied, process stops

    Step 3: Submit Grant Application

    Timeline:

  • Grant application deadline: September 30

  • Financial reviews by analysts: Assigned as applications received; completed by October 31

  • Grant application reviews and site visits by grant panels: Assigned as financial reviews completed; completed by February 15
  • Process:
    1. Only nonprofits with approved LOI can submit grant application
    2. Submit complete grant application through e-CImpact platform by September 30
    3. Application will be reviewed by Impact 100 financial analysts
    4. Application will be reviewed by grant application review team
    5. In-person site visit will be scheduled between November and mid-February
    6. If approved after review, application proceeds to Finalist Selection Panel

    Required Documentation:

  • Complete grant application with project narrative

  • Project summary (written)

  • Detailed project budget

  • Complete financial statements (at least two years)

  • All supplemental documents per requirements

  • Supporting documentation as specified in grant guidelines
  • Step 4: Finalist Selection

    Timeline:

  • Finalist selection panel review: March

  • Finalist and non-finalist notification: March (by phone)
  • Process:
    1. Applications recommended by Grant Panels reviewed, discussed, and voted on by separate Finalist Selection Panel
    2. All applicants notified by phone in March of finalist status
    3. Non-finalists offered follow-up meeting with grant chair and grant panel lead upon request

    Step 5: Meet the Finalists Reception

    Timeline: March 9, 4-6 PM, Bent Pine Golf Club

    Process:
    1. Finalists publicly announced at reception
    2. Each finalist provides brief overview of project
    3. Finalists respond to members' questions

    Step 6: Video Recording

    Process:
    1. Finalist's brief overview from Meet the Finalists reception recorded for video
    2. Video shared online with voting membership
    3. Written project summary from grant application also available online to membership prior to voting

    Step 7: Grant Awards Presentation and Celebration

    Timeline: April 13, 3-5 PM, Bent Pine Golf Club

    Process:
    1. All finalists invited to speak for 3-5 minutes (storytelling style, no technology)
    2. Members present at event vote
    3. Online and paper ballots counted
    4. $100,000 Impact 100 grants and merit awards announced and celebrated
    5. Professional photos taken
    6. Press releases published shortly after event

    Step 8: Grant Award Agreement

    Process:
    1. Each awardee assigned liaison from Impact 100 Community Partners Committee
    2. Liaison reviews requirements and funding
    3. Awardees become Community Partners of Impact 100
    4. Awardee must comply with requirements throughout two-year award period
    5. Liaison coordinates with awardee throughout award period

    • Access: Nonprofits receive notification from e-CImpact administrator with invitation to apply
