Overview

This award is presented to an individual or a team that has achieved an outstanding level of excellence in pain-related programs in a developing country.

Scope

This award is presented to an individual or a team that has achieved an outstanding level of excellence in pain-related programs in a developing country. The program should fall in one of the following categories:

* Basic science research in pain or pain management
* Clinical research or practice in pain or pain management
* Policy changes in pain management

The award facilitates attendance of the recipient(s) to the IASP World Congress on Pain and promotes excellence in pain research and management in developing countries. The Developing Countries Working Group selects the recipient.

Award Details

The recipient receives complimentary IASP World Congress on Pain registration and a travel grant of up to US$10,000 toward the cost of attendance at Congress. Should a team be selected for the award, the $10,000 travel grant will be split amongst team members. In addition, the recipient will receive a plaque and two years of IASP membership which includes access to PAIN.

Eligibility

* The award can be given to a single individual or a team. If applying as a team, the team can have a maximum of five (5) members.
* The description of the program relating to the award must have been developed and carried out within one or more developing countries.
* The principal organizer of the program (main applicant) must be located in a developing country.
* The principal organizer (main applicant) must have been a member for one year at the time of application. For the 2022 Congress application period, the principal organizer must have been a member since at least October of 2020.
* There are no restrictions in regards to the professional qualifications, age, or affiliations of the applicants.
* Those who have received this award in the past are not eligible to reapply, either as an individual or as part of a team.
* If selected, the candidate must attend the IASP World Congress on Pain.
