Overview

Home Repair Partnership Program

Status: Currently on Hold - not accepting applications at this time

Purpose: A Home Repair Program for Low Income, Elderly, and Disabled McDowell County Residents. Gateway's Home Repair Partnership brings together local churches, community leaders, and other organizations to assist low-income homeowners with urgent home repairs. The program provides labor and materials and coordinates repair projects to ensure neighbors can live in their homes safely and with dignity.

Geographic Scope: McDowell County, North Carolina only

What the Program Provides

  • No-cost professional labor
  • All materials needed for repairs
  • Coordination of repair projects
  • Assistance funded through state funding and local donations

Optional Payment: Families can contribute small monthly repayments toward material costs (money goes to help other struggling families), but this is NOT required.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for no-cost assistance, applicants must:

  • Reside in McDowell County
  • Own and occupy the home in need of repair
  • Have annual household income less than 80% of McDowell County's median income
  • Have urgent repair needs that threaten the life, safety, or health of occupants

Geographic Limitation

Important: At this time, the Home Repair Partnership can only help residents in McDowell County, NC. Residents of other counties should call 211 for direction to home repair programs serving their geographic area.

  • The Home Repair Partnership Program is currently on hold

  • Not accepting applications at this time
  • Future Process:

  • When program reopens, interested applicants can download and complete Home Repair Pre-Application

  • Mail or drop off pre-application at: Gateway Wellness Foundation, 74 N. Garden Street, Marion, NC 28752

  • Foundation will contact applicant to complete full application after pre-application received

  • There is currently a waiting list for urgent repairs

  • Approval and repair process may take up to 12 months

    1. Download Home Repair Pre-Application form
    - Available in English and Spanish (Español Aplicación)

    2. Complete the pre-application form

    3. Mail or drop off completed pre-application to:
    - Gateway Wellness Foundation

    - Marion, NC 28752

    4. Wait for contact from Foundation
    - Foundation will contact applicant after receiving pre-application
    - Applicant will then complete full application
