Overview

Gateway Disaster Relief Grant Program

Status: Currently PAUSED - Not accepting applications at this time

Purpose: Gateway Wellness Foundation provides emergency relief to those affected by Hurricane Helene in the form of grants to nonprofit organizations.

Geographic Scope: Burke, McDowell, Polk, and Rutherford Counties, North Carolina

Funding Details

Award Range:

  • Recommended maximum grant request: $25,000

  • Requests in range of $5,000-$10,000 are more likely to be fully funded

  • Grants accepted and awarded on a rolling basis when program reopens
  • Eligible Uses:

  • Provide direct assistance to individuals affected by Hurricane Helene

  • Support applicant organization in recovering from or responding to Hurricane Helene

  • Cover costs of providing emergency relief services to individuals or eligible organizations affected by the storm
  • Eligibility

    Eligible Applicants:

  • Community-based nonprofit organizations designated by IRS as tax-exempt 501(c)(3)

  • Faith-based organizations

  • Public agencies

  • Must serve individuals and families affected by Hurricane Helene in Burke, McDowell, Polk, or Rutherford Counties
  • Application Requirements:

  • Submit only one request for funding at this time
  • Program Status

    Current Status (as of 2026-04-03):

  • The first phase of the Disaster Relief Grant Opportunity is currently closed

  • No additional applications being accepted at this time

  • Foundation is optimistic about providing support for longer-term recovery and rebuilding efforts in the future
  • Notification:

  • Interested organizations can complete a form to be notified of future funding opportunities

  • All applicants to initial disaster relief grant opportunity will be contacted by specified deadlines
