The Hiller School/Community Club Scholarship, established in 1997 by the Hiller Community Club, honors the legacy of the old Hiller School and its community. This scholarship supports graduating seniors and recent high school graduates from Ashland County seeking higher education. Applicants must either reside in Mifflin or Milton Townships or be direct descendants of former students. The goal is to promote education and community involvement for future generations.Overview
Ashland County Community Foundation The community foundation is like the community’s charitable savings account. We pool resources from community members, invest them and then use them to make grants for the betterment of the entire community. We exist to serve donors, nonprofit organizations and the community as a whole. Donors to ACCF enjoy tax advantages not available to private foundation donors. They also receive professional services without hiring staff. Nonprofit organizations receive grants from community foundations to support their programs and projects. Many nonprofits also establish their own endowment funds with the foundation as a means of investing for the future. We’re also engaged as a community leader. We help set the vision for Ashland County while ensuring charitable gifts are used effectively to meet the community’s present needs and to build a brighter future. Hiller School/Community Club Scholarship This scholarship was established in 1997 by the members of Hiller Community Club in memory of the teachers and students of the old Hiller School (also known as Pleasant Valley School), 1704 State route 603, Milton Township, Ashland County, Ohio and of those community residents who preserved the school’s memories as a community club after the school’s closing in about 1940 until selling the building in 1997. It is the hope of the Hiller Community Club members in the year 1997 that the values of education and community involvement be part of our legacy to the recipients of this scholarship in generations to come.Eligibility
