Georgia Student Finance Commission Founded in 1965, the Georgia Student Finance Commission has become one of the most successful state student aid operations in the nation. First created to provide loans, the agency progressed to state- and lottery-funded scholarships, grants, service cancelable loan programs and providing free financial aid consultation. GSFC's mission is to ensure Georgians have an opportunity to access education beyond high school. High School Equivalency Examination Grant Program (HSE) The High School Equivalency Examination Grant Program (HSE) is available to Georgia residents to assist with the cost of a state approved High School Equivalency examination through the Technical College System of Georgia. Eligible persons must complete TCSG’s required HSE application, precertification and seat for a state approved HSE examination.Eligibility

An eligible student must: Meet U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizen requirement;Meet TCSG’s Georgia Residency requirement, for at least 12 months immediately prior to seating for the state approved HSE examination;Meet federal Selective Service registration requirement, per Georgia state law. The requirement to register applies to males who were born on or after January 1, 1960, are at least 18, are citizens or eligible non-citizens who came to the United States prior to age 26;Be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990, O.C.G.A. §20-1-20, et seq.Ineligibility
A person is ineligible for the High School Equivalency Examination Grant if the student has: Earned a high school diploma or equivalent or completed a home study program prior to seating for a state approved High School Equivalency Examination;Earned a college degree, including from a foreign institution prior to seating for the High School Equivalency Examination;Received HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship payment prior to seating for the High School Equivalency Examination.Focus Areas & Funding Uses
