Initiative Foundation Grants The Initiative Foundation awards grants for projects and programs that empower people across Central Minnesota to build a thriving economy, vibrant communities, and a lasting culture of generosity. Foundation grants support start-up or capacity-building projects for units of government and 501(c)(3) nonprofits across the 14 counties and two Native nations of Central Minnesota. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, with quarterly awards made through a competitive review process. Eligibility

To be eligible for funding, an organization must: Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, unit of government or public school district. Individuals with great ideas are encouraged to partner with a local non-profit organization.Serve the people who live and/or work in the 9 townships surrounding Hackensack including Hiram, Woodrow, Birch, Powers, Ponto, Deerfield, Shingobee South, Turtle Lake South and Pine Lake.Have a project that fits within our funding priorities.The board of the non-profit or sponsoring organization must formally approve the application and accept fiduciary and reporting responsibility. The application requires the date of the board approval.

• Individuals or private businesses • Endowments, national or local fund drives or general funds • Expenses incurred prior to notice that the grant has been awarded • Religious organizations for direct religious activities • Political campaigns or lobbying activities
