Summary

The Grand Forks Community Opportunity Grant Program aims to enhance community life through projects in arts, culture, environmental sustainability, and human rights. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofits and public entities serving Grand Forks, Walsh, or Polk County. Projects must start after October 1, 2024, and conclude by September 30, 2025. Preference may be given to new initiatives and applicants, fostering innovation and community engagement.

Overview

Focus Areas Community Opportunity grants support improving the quality of life in our region in the following areas: Arts & Culture: Provide exposure and access to artistic and cultural experiences which generate artistic growth and creativity for all ages. Community & Human Services: Support programs, projects, and activities that promote community or human services for all. Environmental Sustainability: Conserve natural resources and protect ecosystems to support health and wellbeing, now and in the future. Human Rights: Support efforts that raise awareness and promote understanding and respect for human rights among all through education, mediation and conflict resolution, celebrations, and interventions. Proposed projects must fulfill the following criteria: Take place in and benefit the residents of Grand Forks, Walsh, or Polk County. Start on or after October 1, 2024. Be completed on or before September 30, 2025.

Eligibility

Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with tax exempt status or be fiscally sponsored by a nonprofit with such tax exempt status. Or be a public entity, such as a library or school, or a unit of government. Have principal operations in Grand Forks, Walsh, or Polk County, unless prior approval received. Be current with all reports if a prior Community Foundation grant recipient. Demonstrate general fiscal responsibility and agree to use the funds in a manner consistent with the grant application. Have a Board of Directors that meets on a regular basis. Submit a complete and accurate application, providing all requested information, by the stated deadline.

Ineligibility

Applications will NOT be considered for the following: non-program operating expenses, individuals, annual appeals, membership drives, endowments or capital campaigns, religious organizations for religious purposes, or projects of organizations with discriminatory employment or program practices.
