Overview

Graduate Pulmonary Nursing Fellowship

Established: 2009

Purpose: Recruiting and retaining high caliber graduate nursing students committed to nursing practice, education, or research in tuberculosis (TB) or other pulmonary diseases at the University of Washington School of Nursing.

    Award Details

  • Funding: Up to 2 years of funding for tuition and related educational expenses
  • Maximum: Not to exceed $30,000/year
  • Award Frequency: Only one fellowship awarded each year

    Funding Preferences

  • Students focused on nursing care of individuals with TB
  • Plan to practice in the Pacific Northwest after graduation

    Eligibility Criteria

  • Enrollment: Graduate nursing student in MS, MN, DNP, or PhD programs at UW School of Nursing
  • Experience: Previous clinical experience caring for patients with TB or other pulmonary diseases
  • Commitment: Commitment to the study of nursing care for TB or other pulmonary diseases and to full-time enrollment (minimum 10 credits/quarter) in all quarters of funding
  • Presentation: Agree to present at Firland Board meeting progress and accomplishments at end of each funding year

    Duration

  • Standard: Normally awarded for one academic year
  • Renewal: May be awarded for a second year if recipient:
  • - Made acceptable progress toward degree - Remained focused on study of TB and other pulmonary disease - Remained in good academic standing
  • Termination: Fellowship may be withdrawn if student fails to remain in good academic standing or make satisfactory progress toward degree
