Overview
Alumni Scholarship
Overview: Gonzaga University's Office of Alumni Relations has been awarding scholarships to the children, grandchildren, or siblings of alumni for over 40 years.
- Student must be a child, grandchild, or sibling of a Gonzaga alum
- Scholarship awards are only applicable to Gonzaga University undergraduate studies
- Recipients must be enrolled full-time (at least 12 credits per semester)
- Must have a current FAFSA on file in the Financial Aid Office
- Must submit completed online application form
- Awards based on: academic performance, financial need, community service activities, and essay quality
- Renewable: If a student received an Alumni scholarship the previous year and still meets required criteria, the scholarship award will be renewed and the student does not need to resubmit the application
- Open to incoming freshman, rising seniors, juniors, and other undergraduates who meet the criteria
Eligibility Requirements
- Leppek Award: $10,000 (top rising senior applicant)
- Schafer Family Award: $7,500 (top junior applicant)
- Additional scholarships: $2,500 based on same criteria until funds are expended

How to Apply
1. Online Application Form: Complete the application through Gonzaga's online application system
- Note: Partial applications will NOT be saved in the system. You must complete the entire application in one session.
2. Required Materials:
- Completed online application form
- Current FAFSA on file with Financial Aid Office
- Impact Statement (300 words or less)
3. Impact Statement Requirements:
- Describe the impact that receiving the Alumni Scholarship would have on you and your future dreams
- Length: 300 words or less
- Quality Criteria: Composition, grammar, and presentation will be evaluated by the Alumni selection committee
- Tip: Write your impact statement separately, then cut and paste into the online form
4. Review Process:
- A committee of Alumni advisory council members reviews all applications
- Committee evaluates: essay quality, list of community service activities, academic achievement, and financial aid needs
5. Application Timeline:
- Application Opens: October 31, 2025
- Deadline: December 19, 2025 at midnight
- Notification: Late March–April, 2026 (all applicants notified, whether or not they receive an award)
