    How to Apply

    Application Process

    Application Timeline:

  • Spring grant cycle: January 2 through February 15

  • Fall grant cycle: August 1 through September 15

  • Grants are announced one month after the deadline
  • Application Method: Submit through online Grant Portal

    Required Content in Application:
    Applications should address:
    1. What do you plan to do?
    2. Why is this project or program needed now?
    3. How will you know if you have succeeded?
    4. What will have changed when your grant is finished?

    Application Tips:
    1. Know CFWC priorities - read grant guidelines
    2. Practice your "ask" on others - outline what you want to say before you write. Show why the grant is needed, what will change, describe the outcomes you expect, and who else will help
    3. Be specific - set two or three specific goals you want to accomplish with this grant. Use numbers to express your goals (e.g., increase participation by 50%, serve 100 people, raise $10,000)
    4. Keep it simple - be compelling but don't overstate. Avoid jargon and use words others can understand
    5. Check your budget - make sure your budget aligns with grant guidelines and there are no mathematical errors
    6. Revise and edit - have at least one person unfamiliar with your program read the application to tell you what's confusing or unclear. Proofread and spell check.

    Required Materials:

  • Budget (must align with grant guidelines and be mathematically accurate)

  • Goals and measurements

  • Evidence of need

  • Method for measuring progress toward stated goals
  • Grant Agreement: You will be required to complete and sign an online agreement letter with the Community Foundation after receiving an award.
