Girls Giving Grants (G3)

Girls Giving Grants (G3), a youth initiative of Impact Austin, empowers young women in grades 8-12 to make a difference through grantmaking. Focused on serving youth in Central Texas, G3 awards unrestricted grants to nonprofit programs that positively impact children in Travis, Hays, Bastrop, and Williamson counties. Organizations must be 501(c)(3) public charities, targeting specific youth populations and planning to utilize funds within 12 months. This innovative approach fosters community engagement and active participation in philanthropy.

Impact Austin is an Austin-based women’s collective giving organization, funding Central Texas nonprofits that provide services in Bastrop, Hays, Travis, and Williamson counties.
Girls Giving Grants, the youth enterprise of Impact Austin, is changing the face of giving. We are a grantmaking cooperative, funded and operated by young women in grades 8 - 12. We want our funds to make a visible difference in our community. We award grants to charitable programs or projects that benefit youth within Travis, Hays, Bastrop and/or Williamson counties. Through their programs, the organizations must strengthen, improve, enhance, and positively impact the lives of children and youth in the greater Austin area. All grants are unrestricted which means they may be used for programs or for general operations of the grant winner. The members of Girls Giving Grants choose the recipient of the grant.

Eligibility

To be eligible for a grant, an organization must be classified as a “public charity” with tax-exempt status under Sec/on 501(c)(3) and 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. In addition, the organization’s proposal must:Outline a project or program that targets a specific youth population.Provide services in Travis, Hays, Bastrop and/or Williamson counties, Texas.Use the full amount of the Girls Giving Grants’ available grant; andPlan to expend the grant funds within 12 months of receipt of the grant.An organization may submit only one application each year.

Types of Programs We Will Not Consider:Reimbursement for funds already spentDebt reductionEndowments or memorialsBridge funding or interim financingOperational deficitsPartisan, political lobbying or legislative activitiesFraternal, sectarian, and religious organizations where the grant is intended for the principal benefit of the organization’s own members or adherents, or where the grant is intended for inherently religious activities.Private foundationsLegal expenses incurred in any action by or against the organization.General construction or renovation (unrelated to a specific proposed project or program)General capital campaigns (unrelated to a specific proposed project or program)Fundraising activities or eventsAdvertisingSports teams or any sports-related activity or competitionAn organization that has received a grant from Girls Giving Grants may not reapply the following year.
