Get Farming Mini Grant

Overview: Annual grant program supporting urban farmers in the Kansas City area to grow their business, expand production, and feed their communities.

Award Amount: Up to $3,500 per award (previously capped at $3,000, increased in 2023)

Program History: Since 2011, Get Farming Mini Grants have supported 136 farm and garden projects totaling $257,886

Eligible Activities:

  • Infrastructure improvements (coolers, storage sheds, water access installations, tilling)

  • Marketing and signage improvements

  • Produce distribution systems

  • Growing capacity expansion

  • Equipment and supplies
  • Geographic Scope: Kansas City area (Kansas and Missouri)

    Eligibility:

  • Urban farmers in the Kansas City metro area

  • Can include New Roots for Refugees program graduates
  • Funders:

  • Health Forward Foundation (primary funder since 2011)

  • Hall Family Foundation (added 2023)

  • Cargill, Inc. (added 2023)
