Georgia Student Finance Commission Founded in 1965, the Georgia Student Finance Commission has become one of the most successful state student aid operations in the nation. First created to provide loans, the agency progressed to state- and lottery-funded scholarships, grants, service cancelable loan programs and providing free financial aid consultation. GSFC's mission is to ensure Georgians have an opportunity to access education beyond high school. HOPE Scholarship HOPE Scholarship is a merit-based award available to Georgia residents who have demonstrated academic achievement. A HOPE Scholarship recipient must graduate from high school with a minimum 3.00 grade point average (as calculated by GSFC) and maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative postsecondary grade point average to remain eligible. The scholarship provides tuition assistance to students pursuing an undergraduate degree at a HOPE Scholarship eligible college or university in Georgia. A ten-year limit exists for students first receiving the HOPE Scholarship during summer term 2019 (FY20) or later. A seven-year limit exists for students first receiving the HOPE Scholarship during the 2011-2012 academic year (FY12) or later. A student is ineligible to receive HOPE Scholarship funds once the student has reached the 127 semester or 190 quarter hour limit.

An eligible student must: Meet U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizen requirements;Meet the postsecondary institutions Georgia Residency requirements;Be enrolled as a degree-seeking student at a USG, TCSG or eligible private HOPE eligible college or university in Georgia;Be in compliance with Selective Service registration requirements;Meet the Eligible Postsecondary Institution’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy;Be in good standing on all student loans or other financial aid programs;Be in compliance with the Georgia Drug-Free Postsecondary Education Act of 1990;Not have exceeded the maximum award limits for any HOPE program
