George Family Foundation: Spirituality & Inner Life Grants

The George Family Foundation offers Spirituality & Inner Life Grants to empower organizations that foster mindfulness and personal healing. They seek to support programs that promote respect, empathy, and compassion, aiming to bridge divides and enhance individual well-being. The foundation prioritizes initiatives that align with their mission, particularly those addressing meaningful community needs. They focus on 501(c)(3) organizations primarily in Minnesota and select areas, emphasizing innovative spiritual and inner life endeavors.

NOTE: We receive far more requests than we are able to fund each year. Because of this, we often aren’t able to invite full proposals even from meaningful endeavors that are well aligned with our mission. In order to best respect applicants’ time, we only invite full proposals from applicants with programs/activities that are most aligned with our mission, our focus-area aspirations, and our current philanthropic priorities.

We believe that an intentionally developed inner life provides the grounding and ongoing renewal of our creative spirit and sense of wellbeing.
Foster a society characterized by respect, empathy, and compassion, with a resolve to reach across divides in service of justice, equity, and civil discourse. Empower people of all backgrounds and experiences to embrace mindfulness and inner-life practices that nurture mental wellbeing and personal healing.Increase access for people to experience reflection, imagination, and contemplation — providing time and space to explore questions of meaning, individually and in community.
What We Fund:

• To support achievement of our aspirations, we seek to fund an intentional mix of Spirituality and Inner Life endeavors, including:

Progressive Faith-Based EndeavorsWe support efforts that draw on shared values that exist across faiths in order to encourage people to come together to achieve a more just, empathetic, and connected society.Inner LifeWe invest in programs that increase access to and individual capacity for personal reflection, restoration, self-awareness, self-development, and resilience.

Eligibility

We focus on funding organizations that are aligned with our mission and are working to address deep, meaningful needs that they are uniquely positioned to meet.To support achievement of our aspirations, we seek to fund an intentional mix and balance of endeavors in each focus area.We only fund 501(c)(3) organizations.Although we sometimes fund select national organizations, we generally fund organizations working in Minnesota, Dallas, Northern San Francisco Bay Area/Marin County, and the Vail Valley.
