George Family Foundation: Environment Program Grant

The George Family Foundation's Environment Program focuses on enhancing access to natural spaces and engaging underrepresented youth in outdoor activities. The foundation seeks proposals that align with its mission of fostering connections to nature, promoting environmental stewardship, and ensuring community well-being. Funding is limited to 501(c)(3) organizations primarily operating in specific regions, including Minnesota and the Vail Valley. The foundation does not support capital improvements, endowments, or scientific research.

NOTE: While we are open to a limited number of new possibilities, we do not accept unsolicited proposals. We are proactive and highly selective in seeking new funding partnerships. To be considered for an Environment grant, you must follow our Letter of Inquiry (LOI) process.

The George Family Foundations supports programs, organizations and initiatives that transform lives by working to change the systems affecting those lives.

What We Fund:

• To support achievement of our aspirations, we seek to fund an intentional mix of Environment endeavors, including:

Youth ParticipationWe predominantly invest in efforts to expand opportunities for youth — particularly youth from under-resourced and underrepresented communities — to participate in outdoor and environment-related activities. Parks and Public SpacesWe also invest in organizations that steward local and national parks and seek to engage people with those public resources.Protecting LandWe provide limited support to organizations that primarily seek to protect land and natural resources from development.

Eligibility

We focus on funding organizations that are aligned with our mission and are working to address deep, meaningful needs that they are uniquely positioned to meet.To support achievement of our aspirations, we seek to fund an intentional mix and balance of endeavors in each focus area. We only fund 501(c)(3) organizations.Although we sometimes fund select national organizations, we generally fund organizations working in Minnesota, Dallas, Northern San Francisco Bay Area/Marin County, and the Vail Valley.
