General Grant Program - Application for Financial Assistance

Overview: The Salem Community Foundation makes grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that support the Salem area through a variety of funding priorities and focus areas.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a 501(c)(3) organization

  • Currently registered as a State of Ohio charitable organization with the State of Ohio Attorney General's office

  • Must serve people in the Salem area

  • Must support one or more of these focus areas:

    • - Arts and Humanities
    - Health and Human Services
    - Public and Community Services
    - Education

    Funding Priorities: Priority is given to projects that:

  • Reach a broad segment of the community using innovative programs

  • Encourage coordination and cooperation with other organizations to avoid duplication of services

  • Assist organizations whose needs are not currently being met

  • Enhance or improve organizational self-sufficiency or efficiency

  • Encourage matching gifts from community members and/or other organizations

  • Reflect a Salem community-wide effort in assisting the disadvantaged or disabled through self-help activities

  • Need the last dollar to make the organization's vision become reality

    • Does NOT Fund (unless designated by donor):

  • Grants to individuals

  • Religious purposes

  • Operating budgets of established organizations or programs

  • Budget deficits

  • Endowments

  • Conferences, scholarly research, or projects normally the responsibility of the organization

  • Federal agencies

  • Organizations not yet determined to be tax-exempt
