Mission Alignment: Civic projects sponsored by TGCH that emphasize sustainability and positive community impact.

Geographic Scope: Hawaii-based projects

Funding Range: Generally $2,000 to $10,000; larger amounts and multi-year funding considered

Focus Areas:

• Gardens and garden development
• Educational signage and brochures
• Multimedia projects
• Environmental restoration
• Native plant projects
• Climate mitigation
• Food security and sustainable agriculture
• Reef restoration
• Conservation and beautification

Recent Recipients:

• Million Tree Project (native tree planting for climate change mitigation)
• Boys & Girls Windward Clubhouse (Malama Garden with raised beds, compost, aquaponic system)
• Zero Waste Food Recovery in Schools (food waste to compost)
• Friends of Honolulu Botanical Gardens (Prehistoric Glen revitalization and signage)
• Palama Settlement (aquaponic program for youth education)
• Manoa Heritage Center (rain garden installation)
• The Nature Conservancy (Kaneohe Bay Reef Restoration)
• Kuilei Cliffs (Diamond Head Lighthouse area restoration with native plantings)

Important Note: The Garden Club of Honolulu will not award scholarships or grants in 2026 due to its Major Flower Show in May.

Application Process

Timeline:

1. March 1 - Proposals due
2. March-May - Grant Committee reviews applications and General Membership votes
3. May - Funds dispersed
