Overview

The Women’s Treatment Set-Aside of the federal Substance Use Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SUBG) aims to assist in removing barriers for pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders in treatment and in meeting the needs of their dependent children. Assuring this population has access to quality treatment, childcare, transportation, and linkage for their children to assist in long-term success for the entire family unit. In Ohio, concerns such as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS), perinatal overdose, gaps in access to care, and stigma of SUD in pregnant and parenting women make this project a priority. Purpose The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) releases this Request for Applications (RFA) for the purpose of soliciting applications from qualified non-profit organizations or governmental entities to provide evidence-informed practices for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment services to pregnant and parenting women. Programs may serve female adolescents with a diagnosis of substance use disorder who fall into pregnant, parenting, and postpartum categories. The responsibilities of the selected applicants will include provision or coordination of integrated treatment and supports for these women and their children. This includes but is not limited to primary medical care, OB-GYN services, primary pediatric care, SUD and Mental Health treatment, MAT/MOUD, therapeutic interventions for children, and assistance for mothers with linkage to childcare and transportation services to ensure access to these treatment services and supports. OhioMHAS will award funding only to qualified non-profit organizations or governmental entities that provide behavioral health treatment, care coordination, and recovery supports.
