Frances Perkins Program for Social Work at Episcopal Charities

A new program funded by an extraordinary generous gift to provide social work support to Episcopal Charities grantee partners. The program arranges and funds social work support alongside cash and program grants to strengthen organizations' capacity to serve vulnerable populations.

Purpose: Front-line social work is an essential element of grantee programming and services. Social workers assist people with solving problems in daily lives through psychology, sociology, and counseling.

Focus Areas:

• Food access
• Youth education
• Shelter and immigration
• Intervention and prevention

Program Design:

• Consolidates social work needs across grantees
• Works with social work interns
• Makes grants in support of social work
• Utilizes different types of social work including Licensed Clinical Social Workers
• Conforms to New York State credentialing requirements

Who It Serves: Episcopal Charities grantee partners addressing critical needs such as food insecurity, homelessness, youth vulnerability, and addiction.

Named After: Frances Perkins, whose pioneering dedication to helping others and focus on practical solutions in public policy inspired both the donor and the organization.
