Folk and Traditional Arts Fellowships Grant

The Folk and Traditional Arts Fellowships, offered by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, support exceptional folk artists demonstrating outstanding skill in their craft. Each year, two fellowships are awarded: one for $7,000 and another for $3,000. These fellowships recognize artistic practices that are community or family-based, showcasing the aesthetic heritage and traditions of their respective communities, thus promoting cultural preservation.

Folk and Traditional Arts Fellowships support individual folk artists who demonstrate the highest level of skill and accomplishments in their craft.

The Folk and Traditional Arts and defined as those artistic practices which are community or family-based and express that community’s aesthetic heritage and tradition.
