Overview: Scattergood is offering eight $10,000 scholarships for students in the Focus Program. Scholarship decisions are based on a student's potential to contribute to the Scattergood community and to benefit from the Focus Program.
Focus Program Areas
Students may concentrate their Scattergood experience around one of three areas:- Peace & Social Transformation: Equip students with skills to advocate for and work toward positive change, drawing inspiration from Quaker social advocacy traditions. Students gain practical experience through community-oriented capstone projects.
- Sustainable Agriculture: Students grow alongside plants and animals using the farm as a living laboratory. Collaborations with professional organizations like Practical Farmers of Iowa. Capstone projects directly contribute to Scattergood's farming practice.
- Arts & Craftsmanship: Students hone skills through exploration of creative mediums, exposure to the financial side of creating art, engagement with the art community, and refinement of craftsmanship. Capstone projects share works in a public setting.
- Concentrate a portion of elective classes, trips, and writing topics on their focus of choice
- Take a financial literacy class
- Complete a capstone project during senior year

All Focus Program students must:- Students enrolled at Scattergood Friends School (grades 6-12 progressive boarding and day school)
- Current students or prospective students applying to the school

How to Apply
Students who wish to apply for a Focus Program scholarship may do so when they apply for the program. Application materials should be submitted according to the school's admissions deadlines:

#### Required Materials for School Admission (includes focus program scholarship consideration)
1. Completed online application and application fee
2. Three completed recommendation forms (built into online application)
3. Official academic transcript from student's school
4. Two English writing samples from the student (book reports, essays, research papers, or other school assignments showing the student's best work)
5. For tuition assistance: Iowa families may apply for Iowa Education Savings Account (ESA)
6. For international students only:
- Copy of student's passport
- International application fee

1. Submit all application items through the online application portal

3. Students and parents are invited to interview
4. Admissions Team notifies families of decision and tuition offer by email within 10 business days
