Overview

Foundation for Appalachian Ohio The Foundation for Appalachian Ohio (FAO) is a 501(c)(3) regional community foundation – the first and only community foundation serving all 32 counties of Appalachian Ohio. But even more, we serve as the home for a community of givers – donors and doers working together to create opportunities for the people and communities of our region. In partnership with our community of givers, we are working to create a Flourishing Appalachian Ohio. Expand Energy STEM Education Fund The Expand Energy STEM Education Fund, in partnership with FAO, awards grants to public school districts and educators in Belmont, Guernsey and Monroe counties to supports STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) educational activities in K-12 classrooms and schools. Public school districts and educators working in those three counties are invited to apply for funding to implement enhanced STEM-based learning materials, opportunities and experiences. Grant awards are anticipated to range up to $1,000, but larger requests will be considered.

Eligibility

Nonprofit organizations include 501(c) organizations under the Internal Revenue Code. Public organizations include public school districts, higher education institutions, government subdivisions like municipalities and other entities that are audited through the Auditor of State.Groups that do not have either status but are working in fiscal sponsorship with either a nonprofit or public entity are eligible to apply but will be asked to identify the specific fiscal sponsor.
