Evidence for Impact (EFI)

Program Status: Active - 2025-26 school year funding announced

Overview:
The EFI grant funds and studies high-dosage tutoring—frequent tutoring several times a week, one-on-one or in small groups—built directly into the school day. The program tests which students benefit most, in which subjects and grades, and which program designs deliver the strongest results.

Focus Areas:

  • High-dosage tutoring (frequent, several times per week)

  • One-on-one and small group tutoring

  • Tutoring integrated directly into school day

  • Testing student benefit by grade and subject

  • Evaluating program design variables (group size, time per session)

  • Building evidence on tutoring effectiveness

    • Geographic Scope: Nationwide (US public schools)

    Eligibility:

  • Tutoring organizations and education providers

  • Public school district implementations

    • Key Features:

  • Implementation funding for 2025-26 school year

  • Independent evaluation funded by Accelerate

  • Builds on nearly 65 research studies, including 20+ randomized controlled trials funded since 2022

  • All projects report using Accelerate's Data Alignment and Tutoring Assessment Standards
