Background: Sandy Hale is a nurse practitioner who provided reproductive health care to women and girls in Windham. In the 1980s, troubled by rising teen pregnancy rates, she photographed and documented the lives of young mothers. She found that many girls lacked self-worth and vision for their futures. Sandy later joined the steering committee for the Community Foundation's Windham Women & Girls Fund and works to direct grants to local nonprofits.
