Eligibility: Female and non-binary/third gender residents of participating northeast Connecticut towns
Overview: Established by Laura and Scott Moorehead in 2021 to encourage young people "from artists to engineers and everyone in between, to go out and grab the world."
What They Fund: Scholarships for female and non-binary/third gender students from northeast Connecticut towns
Background: Laura and Scott Moorehead are retired and active in community service. Laura is a former Navy officer who witnessed discrimination against women and later became an artist, seeing firsthand how difficult it was for artists to get scholarships. They established this fund to support women and non-traditional gendered people who face greater barriers to scholarship opportunities compared to white males.
