Overview

Texas Education Agency The Texas Education Agency is the state agency that oversees primary and secondary public education. It is headed by the commissioner of education. The Texas Education Agency improves outcomes for all public school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) administers federal and state grant awards to its subgrantees to carry out a program. Such entities include primarily school systems (referred to as local educational agencies [LEAs] in statutes), including independent school districts and charter schools; education service centers (ESCs); and, to a lesser degree, institutions of higher education (IHEs), nonprofit organizations (NPOs), and other statutorily allowable organizations. ESC Perkins Technical Assistance Grant Program Description The 2025-2026 ESC Perkins Technical Assistance Grant will provide Education Service Centers (ESC) Perkins related staff with the ability to utilize funding for four grant objectives. Must attend TEA approved training related to federal grant compliance, at a minimum the TEA GCA Institute and one day of EDGAR related training to be provided by TEA, and may attend other EDGAR/grant management related trainings provided by TEA or approved by TEA;Provide technical assistance to school systems in the areas of fiscal rules, regulations, risk, or compliance resolution;Receive technical assistance in the comprehensive local needs assessment process from Region 6; andReceive technical assistance in multiple – SSA implementation from Region 6 Objectives 1 and 2 are required to apply for grant funds. Applicant ESCs may apply for all four objectives listed above, or for only objectives 1 and 2. Funding for only objectives 1 and 2 is $10,000 per ESC. Funding for all four objectives is $20,000 per ESC. You will submit your application for the appropriate budget amount based on your needs and selected objectives.
