Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Student Teaching Merit Scholarship Grant

The Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Student Teaching Merit Scholarship, established in 2018, supports students at the University of Hawai'i - Manoa, College of Education. It is designed for second-year graduate students or higher who demonstrate financial need and commitment to teaching in Hawai'i's public school system. Eligible applicants must have strong character, leadership skills, and a major in education, ideally planning to teach mathematics or science.

NOTE: The Application deadline is represented by the Pre proposal deadline. The Letters of Recommendation deadline is represented by the Full Proposal deadline.

Edward Yoshiharu Sakuma & Kay Kubo Sakuma Student Teaching Merit Scholarship was established in 2018. The purpose of this fund is to assist students with educational expenses related to the costs of being engaged in teaching while completing their degree program.

Eligibility

Second-year graduate student or higher
Graduate of a public high school or equivalent in the State of Hawai'i
Committed to teaching in the State of Hawai'i public school system
Demonstrated volunteer and extra-curricular activities with leadership roles
