Addressing Health Disparities Research Grant Purpose: To support the development of research and education related to disparities in care/outcomes and the cause of those disparities with the goal of enhancing understanding of the needs of our patients, their families, and caregivers, and to improve the delivery of equitable and inclusive care to a diverse population. Funding The award is up to a maximum of $50,000 total costs for one year. However, the amount is often less. The exact amount of funding for each review cycle will be determined by PES and may vary depending on multiple factors including the available funds at the time of review of the application. A maximum of 10% of the total award may be applied to institutional direct costs.Eligibility

Fellows in the 2nd or 3rd year of training or early-stage faculty members who are PES members in good standing are eligible to apply for the EDI Grant. US citizenship or green card status is NOT required.A candidate may apply for support if he or she:Will have completed one year of fellowship training (i.e., will be in the 2nd or 3rd year of typical fellowship) or will be junior faculty at the time of the award (the following July 1st).Has either an MD, DO, or equivalent degreeIf faculty, has a rank no higher than Assistant ProfessorDoes not have K12, K23, K08, or other K level funding and is not a PI on an R21, R01, or NSF award at the initiation of the award.Awardees will be expected to present their research findings at the national PES meeting at the conclusion of the granting period. PES will also request that awardees acknowledge funding from the PES and provide copies of all manuscripts generated from work supported by the PES grant. If requested, awardees will provide subsequent academic appointments and grant awards.A letter of support from the Division Chief (Sponsor) is required and should be submitted with the application. If the award is made during fellowship years, applicants must establish an appropriate mentoring committee and provide the names and qualifications of these committee members.
