Overview

AAIM Innovation Grants

Program Purpose: Small grants to facilitate innovative learning and program development at the local and regional level for AAIM member institutions.

Program History: The AAIM Innovation Grants program began in 2015 and has funded 180 grants to 116 institutions.

Focus Areas: The program supports a broad range of initiatives including:

Patient access and care

Diversity, equity and inclusion in internal medicine training

Health care disparities

High value care

Teaching skills and faculty development

Wellness and resilience

Curriculum development

Recent Funding (2024): 20 projects at medical schools and teaching hospitals received grants ranging from $10,000 to $40,000, depending on the scope of the program, for a total of $400,000 in grant awards. Eleven Alliance member institutions are recipients.

Co-Sponsored Initiative: Starting in FY 2021, the program co-sponsors "Building Trust through Diversity, Health Care Equity, & Inclusion in Internal Medicine," a large grant program that seeks to incorporate diversity, health care equity, and inclusion in internal medicine training to increase interprofessional efforts and build a more trustworthy health system.

Funding Support: AAIM Innovation Grants are supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Aquifer (formerly MedU).
