Geographic Scope: United States (open to AMGA member organizations)

Focus Areas:
The award recognizes medical groups and other organized systems of care that are bringing the American healthcare system closer to the ideal delivery model – one that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient, and equitable.

The award's framework is structured around the Quadruple Aim, which includes:

  • Improving patient experience of care

  • Improving health of populations with a focus on quality outcomes

  • Reducing the per capita cost of health care

  • Emphasizing workplace wellness
  • Mission: To honor the nation's premier healthcare delivery organizations that are high performing and are bringing their organization closer to the ideal medical group and health system by:

  • Measurably improving the quality and value of care

  • Improving patient experience and outcomes

  • Continuously learning and innovating

  • Improving population health
  • Eligibility:

  • AMGA member organizations (medical groups and organized systems of care)

  • Healthcare delivery organizations meeting performance criteria
  • Award Structure:
    As of 2020, the award is presented annually to:

  • One recipient

  • Two honorees

  • Recognition of finalists

  • Health equity is an essential criteria
  • Key Attributes Evaluated:
    Applications are assessed on incorporation of AMGA's High-Performing Health System Attributes including:

  • Accountability

  • Care Coordination

  • Compensation Practices and Incentives

  • Efficient Provision of Services

  • Organized Systems of Care

  • Quality Measurement and Improvement Activities

  • Use of Information Technology and Evidence-Based Medicine

  • Advancing Health Equity
  • History: First awarded in 1999. Framework restructured in 2004, 2009, and again between 2020-2023 to emphasize health equity and recognize recipients, honorees, and finalists.

    Announcement: The presentation and announcement of the award occurs in April at AMGA's Annual Conference (2026 conference: April 15-18, 2026 at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, NV)

    Application Process for 2026 Acclaim Award

    Two-Round Submission Process:

    1. Round 1: Abstract Submission
    - Organizations submit a one-page abstract
    - The Acclaim Award Review Committee reviews and scores all submitted abstracts
    - Top-scored abstracts are selected to advance as Acclaim Award Finalists

    2. Round 2: Full Application (Finalists Only)
    - Finalists submit a full application
    - Applications should describe the organization's initiatives along the path of the Quadruple Aim
    - The Acclaim Award Review Committee reviews full applications
    - Committee selects the recipient and honoree(s)

    Applications are evaluated based on:

  • Efficient Provision of Services

  • Organized Systems of Care
