Driver Education in Public High Schools Grant Program

The Driver Education in Public High Schools Grant Program, administered by the Maryland State Department of Education, aims to provide funding for public high schools and nonprofit organizations to deliver driver education courses. Priority is given to schools with at least 40% of students eligible for free or reduced-price meals, ensuring equitable access to essential driving education. A total funding amount of $2,000,000 is available to support this initiative.

Purpose
This grant provides funding to public high schools and nonprofit organizations to assist high schools in offering Driver Education Courses for students. Priority will be provided to public high schools where at least 40% of the registered students are eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meal program or for a nonprofit organization working to offer a driver education course in a public high school where at least 40% of the registered students are eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meal program.
