Background: This scholarship honors Dr. Dale L. Mathias Jr., M.D., who served as a physician in Adams County for over 35 years. Known as "Doc," he worked across hospitals, nursing centers, and emergency departments throughout the region. He valued the role he played in saving lives, always doing his best to help as much as he could.

About Dr. Dale L. Mathias Jr., M.D.:

• Started his career with the National Health Service Corps
• Served as a physician in Adams County for 35+ years
• Worked in emergency medicine and family medicine
• Worked across multiple healthcare facilities: hospitals, nursing centers, and emergency departments throughout the region
• Valued saving lives and helping others to the best of his ability
• Known as "Doc"

Eligibility:

• Must be a current high school senior (RESTRICTED TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS ONLY)
• Must be an Adams County or Brown County, Ohio resident
• Enrolled or accepted at a regionally accredited institution
• Pursuing a career in healthcare

Note: 2026 deadline has passed. Next deadline is March 1, 2027. Recipients are announced at the annual scholarship luncheon.
