Daniel K. and Millie Akaka Ohana Scholarship Fund Grant

The Daniel K. and Millie Akaka Ohana Scholarship Fund, established in 2019 by Ohana 100 in memory of Senator Daniel K. Akaka and his wife, Millie, supports Hawaii residents in financial need. Eligible applicants must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, attend an accredited college, and demonstrate a strong connection to Hawaii. Preference is given to students majoring in Education, Environmental Studies, Healthcare, or Music, along with those showing good character and community involvement.

NOTE: The Application deadline is represented by the Pre proposal deadline. The Letters of Recommendation deadline is represented by the Full Proposal deadline.
Created in 2019 by Ohana 100 (the Daniel Kahikina Akaka Family Foundation) in memory of Daniel K. Akaka, a US senator who served Hawaii from 1990 to 2013, and his wife, Millie.

Eligibility

HCF Criteria:

• Be a resident of the State of Hawaii
• Demonstrate financial need
• Be in good academic standing by maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
• Donor criteria:
• Attend an accredited 2-year or 4-year college
• Be a full-time student
• Demonstrate a substantial connection to Hawaii
• Demonstrate good character, including community service, leadership, and civic involvement.
